A message from Vance Unger, Owner of Denali Exteriors:
I have been in Winnipeg’s roofing and exteriors industry since the late 90’s and started Denali Exteriors in 2011. We are a family business and keep the ideals of family in mind with every job. I went into business for myself to restore integrity to the Winnipeg roofing industry. Coming up in the industry, I saw too much inadequate workmanship in roofing installations, and I did not want to be a part of that. A labourer at that time, my only job was to do the grunt work and not worry about the politics. After I honed my skills, I realized I could produce workmanship that does not fail. From that point in time, I realized that I wanted to be known for my quality and my ability to improve the roofing system.
“The price of perfection is eternal vigilance.”
I am a certified master shingler with a knowledgeable and safety conscious crew that has been extensively trained by me to perform at a high level and to ensure the highest quality. Our team is mostly comprised of four dedicated individuals, two of which are certified master installers. We do not sub-contract out. Our work is our reputation.
Our team is very safety conscious and strictly follow the latest safety guidelines and requirements at all times. We are all safety trained and certified. Personal protective equipment is used at all times on every job.
My greatest passion is probably just to start and finish projects and completed to the best of my ability.
Something I make every effort to ensure will last it’s for life
If you want top quality and unhindered perfection, forget the rest and go with the best! Denali Exteriors goes above and beyond to achieve a customer experience satisfaction that ranks with the very best. Keeping your needs and your ideas in mind, we will guide you through an installation process with ease and comfort. We have certified master installers to start and complete each project with integrity and ease.
The roofs on our homes are important functionally and aesthetically. At Denali Exteriors, we strive to educate Winnipeg homeowners about both of those, with educational articles and our free quotes.
Functionally, roofs are the first line of defense against the outside elements, but are specifically crucial in the role of water-leak prevention. A properly installed roof will guard your house’s infrastructure from getting water damage and all the water-related consequences that go along with water damage.
Along with that, the roof’s eavestroughs need to be problem-free in order to do its job of carrying water away from your house. Some common problems we face are cracking from the extreme temperature changes we see here in Winnipeg, along with clogged gutters from all the tree-lined streets. Cleaning your gutters can be as easy as grabbing a ladder and scooping out the gunk with your hands, and then later cleaning it thoroughly with a high pressure stream. But as we’re not all spring chickens, or possibly have mobility issues, there are professional Winnipeg eavestroughs companies that can do it for you. Of course, you also have the option of investing in gutter guards, which will hopefully prevent your eavestroughs from getting clogged in the first place.
The fascia and soffit are equally as important for providing a well-maintained roofing infrastructure.
Aesthetically, your roof is just as important as functionally. For example, if you’re looking to sell your home, you’ll sell it a lot faster and for more money if you have a quality roof on top. Potential home buyers can be put off when they see damaged shingles and may wonder if that leads to bigger, unseen problems under your roof.
But as well, your neighbors and community in general are important to consider. No one likes having a house with a damaged roof besides theirs, as it could drive the value of their own home down. A lot of people look at the neighboring houses when buying a home.
At Denali Exteriors, we know that your roof is a major cost in the upkeep of your home. That’s why we want you to be informed and educated when you decide it’s time to replace your roof. As your roofing resource, we will provide you with expert, non-biased information and a reasonable free quote.
There are essentially three major factors in determining how much a new roof costs: the cost of material; the cost of labour; the angle of of your roof. There are other factors as well, such as tearing off the old shingles, disposal, and special requirements (i.e. is there a pool right beside the roof work area where workers have to be extremely careful?). Unless you are experienced in roofing, we recommend that you hire a professional Winnipeg roofing company, such as Denali Exteriors, as while it will be more expensive than doing it yourself, you will get shingle and workmanship warranties. You can read in more detail in our article called, “How much does a residential shingle roof cost?“.
When you’re looking for shingles for your Winnipeg home, there are a few roofing shingle manufacturers here in Canada. At Denali Exteriors, we use the CertainTeed roofing products.
“CertainTeed has helped shape the building products industry for more than 110 years. Founded in 1904 as General Roofing Manufacturing Company, today, CertainTeed® is North America’s leading brand of exterior and interior building products, including roofing, siding, fence, decking, railing, trim, insulation, gypsum and ceilings. A subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest and oldest building products companies, CertainTeed and its affiliates have more than 6,300 employees and more than 60 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Canada.”
Building Products of Canada Corp. and IKO Industries Ltd. are two other examples of Canadian shingle manufacturers.
By far, asphalt or composition shingles are the most common types of Winnipeg residential roofs. Normally, an asphalt solution is poured over organic material such as waste paper, wood fiber, cellulose, which makes the shingles waterproof. Then a coating of adhesive asphalt covers the top and ceramic granules of the shingle, which makes these shingles ideal for all climates and temperatures, especially the drastic ones we feel here in Winnipeg.
However, you can also find :
You can buy the most expensive shingles for your Winnipeg home, but if you don’t have the best Winnipeg roofing company to install them, you might as well throw your money into a fire. Proper roof installation is key to protecting your home from the elements.
Your roof must be completely weatherproof and waterproof, as well as durable and sturdy. Proper insulation is a must for optimizing your energy efficiency.
When you are looking for Winnipeg roofing companies, make sure to get references and look at the company’s experience with the type of roof you want. Other things to consider are how long the company has been in business, it’s reputation, and the workmanship warranty it gives. Remember, the cheapest roofing quote is not always the best.
